What Is 304 Stainless Steel Pipe

- Jan 15, 2020-

304 stainless steel pipe is a kind of universal stainless steel, which is widely used to make equipment and parts with good comprehensive performance (corrosion resistance and formability). 304 stainless steel is a brand of stainless steel produced according to American ASTM standard. 304 stainless steel is equivalent to 0Cr19Ni9 (0Cr18Ni9) stainless steel in China. 304 is the most widely used stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, practical steel, Huaye steel.

304 stainless steel has better anti rust performance than 200 series stainless steel and high temperature resistance, which can reach 1000-1200 ℃. 304 stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance and good intergranular corrosion resistance. It has strong corrosion resistance in nitric acid under boiling temperature of concentration ≤ 65%. It also has good corrosion resistance to alkali solution and most organic and inorganic acids. It is a kind of high alloy steel that can resist corrosion in air or chemical corrosion medium.

304 stainless steel pipe is widely used in food production equipment, general chemical equipment, devices and components for atomic energy and nuclear energy industry, as well as deep drawing parts, acid transmission pipelines, containers, etc. the steel is also used in vehicles, automobile parts boxes and household appliances. It is the steel with the most production and consumption in austenitic stainless steel. It is used to produce thin-walled parts, acid pipelines and structural parts. It is also often used as the core material for welding chromium nickel stainless steel and stainless steel, non-magnetic parts and parts used in low temperature environment.

304 stainless steel pipe size and tolerance:

Deviation level

Standardized outside diameter tolerance

D1

±1.5%, minimum ±0.75 mm

D2

±1.0%, minimum ±0.50 mm

D3

±0.75%, minimum ±0.30 mm

D4

±0.50%, minimum ±0.10 mm

304 stainless steel management theory weight calculation formula: (outer diameter-wall thickness) × wall thickness × 0.02491 = weight per meter (kg)
